Birth & Family Services in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky

Imagine you are running a race for the first time.

You have planned for this race, you’ve exercised and trained; you’ve set goals for yourself and believe you can attain them.

You’ve talked to other people, taking their wisdom and advice to heart.  Sometimes they offer negative feedback and you try to not let it get you down, but it’s hard.  Sometimes they glow with a satisfaction and contagious excitement when they talk about their experience and you think, “That’s what I want too!”

You’ve read the right books, researched methods; you’re ready, excited, nervous, apprehensive, but deep within you know you want this, you know you CAN do this, and know somehow you were made to do this.

But giving birth is so much more than just a physical act: it is a full body-and-soul experience that will transform your life forever.

“When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change.”

- Marie Mongan

Maybe you’ve already had a baby and your birth didn’t quite turn out the way you had planned?  You want to try again, but you’re unsure.  Having a caring, professional doula by your side can help you achieve your goals for your birth.

A doula is not there to take over, replace your partner, or tell you how to give birth. Our goal at Nurture is to support you and encourage you to attain the goals you’ve set for yourself.  We will help to put many of your worries to rest, and will encourage you with evidence-based informational support as well as emotional and physical support during labor and birth.

And in the midst of your own life’s journey begins another brand new one...

A tiny new life erupting in tandem with your own.  This little life has his or her own experience during birth that will also affect them forever.  There have been many studies done on the effects birth has on babies, and they all seem to lead to a similar conclusion: that birth matters.  For your baby, being born in a safe, loving, secure environment will give them the best start to life-- both mentally, emotionally, and physically.  Studies have also shown that babies born with doulas present tend to have shorter hospital stays with fewer admissions to special care nurseries, breastfeed more easily and have more affectionate mothers in the postpartum period.

How do I get more information?
